No Hot Water in a Waikīkī Condo: Plumber or Building?
Before dispatching a plumber, determine whether hot water is supplied by an individual unit water heater or a central building system. The correct first contact can differ substantially.
A visitor should notify the host or property manager. An owner or manager should check whether the issue affects only one fixture, the entire unit, or multiple units in the building. Building management may already know of central equipment maintenance or an interruption.
If the unit has its own heater, visible leakage around the tank, connections or surrounding area deserves prompt attention. Any active water flow should be reported to building security/front desk immediately.
Useful information for the plumber includes heater type, approximate age if known, whether there is any leaking, unusual sound, loss of power, and whether hot water disappeared suddenly or gradually.
